Touring Groups

Kilfinane is in a peaceful, rural setting, and is the highest village in County Limerick, set in the Ballyhoura Mountains.  There are shops, restaurants and pubs just a stroll up the street which makes for an enjoyable and very safe destination for touring groups. This hidden gem has only recently been discovered as a tourism destination so it’s really authentic, non-commercial, with a touch of the ‘Auld Ireland’ about it. The people are genuinely friendly and the welcome is warm.

Our central location, makes us an ideal base from which to make day trips, to some of the countries busy tourist hotspots, less than an hour away like The rock of Cashel, Killarney,  Blarney Stone, Cork & Limerick city and we are only 2 hours from Dublin’s M50. We are just 1 ½ hours from The Ring of Kerry, Dingle, The Cliffs of Moher, Kilkenny, Galway and Waterford cities and under an hour from Cork and Shannon airports. We are a gateway between the Wild Atlantic Way and Ireland’s Ancient East. As the Wild Atlantic way is just 45 minutes away and we are in Ireland’s Ancient East,  you can enjoy the best of both worlds.

Nestled in the Ballyhoura mountains, there are many activities to do including mountain biking in the biggest mountain bike park in Ireland, horse trekking, guided walks and guided night walks, shooting sports, archery, hill walking and many more. The Ballyhoura mountains boast some of the most breathtaking scenery and walking trails, many of which can be taken directly from the hostel.

Our 43 bed luxury Ballyhoura hostel is ideal for groups to hire exclusively, giving great comfort and security to the group. All rooms are accessed with electronic key cards. The standard of the accommodation is very high with beautiful solid hardwood beds, high quality bedding and really comfortable hotel grade mattresses. Our large cosy sitting room with big comfy couches by an open fire is a great space to unwind in or watch a movie after an adventurous day. We have a fully equipped self-catering kitchen or else we arrange for meals to be provided.  The dining room has solid hardwood tables and benches and doubles up as a conference area.

Séamus and Teresa own, run and live in the hostel and we find that our guests feel that it is like a home away from home. They are there to help in any way they can, to ensure you have the best possible time.

There is a log fire burning in the open fire place. The big L shaped couch and two other couches arranged with a soid hardwood coffee table in the middle are very cosy and there is a large screen TV mounted on the wall.

A Tripadvisor review from a Music Group we had staying with us from Finland

Feels like home”

Reviewed 25 October 2016

Stayed a week with 31 youngsters and 9 adults. The whole hostel was booked just for us! And it was just perfect!!!
All the rooms and common areas worked great, we had enought room to spend time together and even practise our wind band during the stay.
Every day we left the hostel to go around and coming back here was like coming back home!
And the food, it was delicious (we had Irish and Continental breakfasts, lunches and dinners during the week from hostel)!!
Teresa and Séamus are just perfect to this job: They were always so happy and ready to help in any way, planning our trip program, finding us new ideas, transporting music instruments, repairing broken oboe :) and always – with a smile and happiness!!
Thank you SO much for everything!
Best wishes,
