Transition Year Groups Accommodation
Kilfinane is a peaceful, rural village making it an enjoyable and very safe destination for TY Groups. With special schools discounts available mid-week, €20 per person sharing, this makes for an ideal place to stay for a school tour or for those going for the Gaisce Award.
The hostel itself is a real treat, for adults and students alike and we have found that students really respond to the luxury aspect. It’s ideal for splitting up groups, if you have a mixed bunch. The upstairs section has a 14 bed dorm and a 4 bed family room next door to it. The downstairs section has a 5 bed family room, a 4 bed dorm, 2 five bed dorms and a six bed dorm, sleeping 43 in total.
The accommodation sections are separated by the living room, reception and dining room. The common areas are very spacious and we have lots of board games, a foosball table, a piano and guitars and you can also bring things for your own entertainment. The living room has an open fire and big cosy couches, perfect for the students to enjoy a movie in the evening. We have a fully equipped self-catering kitchen if you wanted to do the cooking yourselves or else we can arrange for food to be provided.
Ballyhoura Hostel is located in the Ballyhoura mountains, we have many hill walks on our doorstep, including Slievereagh, which is a 25 km hike taken from the hostel, perfect for those going for the Gaisce Award. We can organise a guide for your hike if you like and he also does guide night walks, which are very enjoyable.
